Celebrating My Mission to Make Heart Paintings
Today, July 13, is the second anniversary of receiving my mission from God: “I want you to make heart paintings and put them where people are disheartened.” Does being told by God that I have a specific mission make me special? Not a bit.
Maybe two years ago today, I was just more desperate than many. I was desperate enough to say aloud “OK God, I'll do whatever you want me to do.” I wrote the story in an earlier blog post, "Now I Can Make More Heart Paintings."
Two years later, how am I doing?
So how am I doing with this mission? Over the entire two year period, I'd say pretty piss-poor. Received loads of guidance I didn't follow well at all. Much better in the last couple of weeks. Oh....God just reminded me that God doesn't grade me this way.
So let me just say that I'm grateful for the mission, grateful for all the guidance from God (and sorry I haven't followed it at all well.) I'm grateful for the Sacrament of Reconciliation the Episcopal Church offers, for my parish church, Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville, GA -- and for starting fresh, feeling fully alive and present. Starting again. Thanks be to God!
