I love painting in the cabin because of all the daylight. I think we counted once, and the 12x24 main room has 22 windows! And I've always loved the way Louise Nevelson turned her home into a studio. Who needs a living room?
However -- I was starting to feel claustrophobic: way too much stuff. Was the main room a studio or a teenager's bedroom? (No offense intended, younger readers; I know it's a valid design style.) I had books and magazines everywhere, sweatshirt over the back of a chair, paint containers and drying paintings all over....just a lot of STUFF!
Something had to go....
And it wasn't going to be food. Haven't watched any DVDs in a while, or played any table games. For me, reading is more an addiction than a useful activity. Got clear guidance yesterday that I'd be better off not reading. So -- packed up the DVDs, games and 95% of the books -- to be stored elsewhere. Ah! Empty shelf space! Now to organize the painting supplies that had drifted here and there: kitchen counters, table, floor....It's gonna be good!
